YouTube Releases Top Music Videos Of 2018

YouTube shared some numbers recently as to what the most popular videos on their streaming site were (really, we watched the Walmart yodeling kid the most?), and as part of their released stats, they also shared the numbers for the most streamed music videos. The shocking things was, eight of the top ten videos were in Spanish.

At the top of the list, with 1.44 billion views, was the “Te Bote Remix” from Casper, Nio Garcia, Darell, Nicky Jam, Bad Bunny, and Ozuna. The song has dominated since it was released last April, and was far ahead of the rest of the pack. Shockingly Drake’s “In My Feelings” didn’t chart, considering the music video was responsible for a dance challenge that went viral. His song “God’s Plan” did make an appearance though at number 8. The only other non-Spanish song to chart was Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” which featured Cardi B. The video had a clew of cameos in it, including ones from Sarah Silverman, Gal Gadot, Tiffany Haddish and Ellen. The song landed at number 3 on the list. Puerto Rican singer Ozuna was featured in four of the ten songs on the chart, including two in the top five.

The complete list is below.

  1. Te Bote Remix – Casper, Nio García, Darell, Nicky Jam, Bad Bunny, Ozuna
  2. Nicky Jam x J. Balvin – X (EQUIS)
  3. Maroon 5 – Girls Like You ft. Cardi B
  4. Daddy Yankee | Dura
  5. Ozuna x Romeo Santos – El Farsante (Remix)
  6. Becky G, Natti Natasha – Sin Pijama
  7. El Chombo – Dame Tu Cosita feat. Cutty Ranks
  8. Drake – God’s Plan
  9. Reik – Me Niego ft. Ozuna, Wisin
  10. Vaina Loca – Ozuna x Manuel Turizo

The Hunchback Of Notre-Dame Set To Be Next Live-Action Disney Film

Aladdin, The Lion King, Dumbo and Lady and the Tramp haven’t even been released yet, but Disney is already planning for their next film to join the likes of The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast. It was announced yesterday that The Hunchback of Notre-Dame is next in line with actor Josh Gad set to produce.

While Disney’s 1996 adaptation of The Hunchback Of Notre-Dame may not one of their most memorable films, the story itself is. It was based on the novel by Victor Hugo, and tells the story of a deformed bell-ringer who falls in love with a gypsy dancer whom he helps fight a vicious government minister. Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz were nominated for an Academy Award for Best Music, Original Score for the film, and will reteam for the new movie to make new music. Playwright David Henry Hwang is writing the film.

At the moment it’s not clear if Josh Gad will have a role in the film, although he does have Disney experience, having voiced the snowman Olaf in Frozen. The 1996 version of The Hunchback featured Tom Hulce as Quasimodo, Demi Moore as Esmeralda, as well as Kevin Kline, Jason Alexander, and David Ogden Stiers.

The Disney version is not the only Hunchback of Notre-Dame adaptation in the works though. Idris Elba announced earlier this year that he is producing, directing, and starring in, as well as writing original music for, a Netflix version of the classic story.

At this moment there is no word as to when production will start for The Hunchback of Notre-Dame.

Jason Reitman Working On A Secret Ghostbusters Movie

Ghostbusters fans may finally be getting the sequel they’ve clamoured for for years. It was leaked yesterday that Jason Reitman is working on a new Ghostbusters project that is being kept very hush hush as he works towards a summer 2020 release.

Variety broke the news yesterday that Reitman is taking over from his father Ivan who directed the original two Ghostbusters movies in 1984 and 1989. Retiman has co-written the script, and plans to start shooting the film this summer. While not much is known about the project, it is being said that the film won’t be connected to the 2016 film that bombed at the box office, and is said to be a direct sequel to the original pair of films. It’s also not known if the original remaining cast members, including Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, would be reuniting for the project either. Variety also learned however that Reitman has begun testing teenagers for four mystery roles. Currently the film is using the fake title “Rust City” to keep the project under wraps until it is officially announced.

Reitman has never made a film of this nature before, instead focusing on lower budget films like Up in the Air, Tully and last year’s The Front Runner. Ghostbusters fans have been hoping for a sequel to the original film for 30 years, and if it happens, they will be happy to hear the phrase “Who Ya Gonna Call” repeated over and over again.

Mission: Impossible Set To Return With Two New Sequels

It’s been 23 years since Tom Cruise first accepted the role as Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible franchise, and he’s about to add to that total. Both Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie took to Twitter yesterday to announce their return for not one, but two more sequels to the hit franchise.

Cruise has starred in all six of the films so far, with the first one appearing in 1996. Throughout the franchise he’s been known to take bigger and bigger risks performing his own stunts, with several accidents along the way. McQuarrie on the other hand just joined the franchise for the last two films, Rogue Nation and Fallout.

McQuarrie took to Twitter yesterday with the quick note “Missions: Accepted#MissionImpossible” to show he’s in as both writer and director, while Cruise started promoting the sequels already, stating they would be released in 2021 and 2022. This means of course the two films will be made back to back, most likely beginning later this year. Before they come out though, Cruise and McQuarrie will also see another of their films hit theaters, Top Gun: Maverick.

The Mission: Impossible films have earned over $3.5 billion at the box office throughout its six films, and is one of the most successful film franchises of all time.
