Whitney Houston may have passed away in 2012, but the late singer will be embarking on a new international tour starting in 2020 thanks to the help of holographic technology.
Having holograms take the stage in place of dead musicians is nothing new. In 2012 Snoop Dogg took the stage with Tupac Shakur during Coachella, and since then people have been wondering when other musicians might make a return. BASE Hologram kicked off a “Roy Orbison Buddy Holly: The Rock ‘N’ Roll Dream Tour” earlier this year, and they also stated that Whitney Houston would eventually be following. Until now however, Whitney’s tour dates had yet to be announced. That changed yesterday, when they said the tour would kick off on January 23rd in Mexico, and wrap up in Minsk on April 3rd. More dates, including ones in the U.S. and Canada were to be announced later on, but are expected to be in the fall.
“An Evening With Whitney: The Whitney Houston Hologram Tour” will have live dancers and a live band accompanying the Houston hologram. All of the singer’s famous hits are set to be featured, including “I Will Always Love You,” “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me),” “The Greatest Love of All” and “Higher Love.” BASE Hologram Chairman and CEO Brian Becker told Rolling Stone Magazine that the show shouldn’t be looked at as a throw-back show. “This isn’t a journey through time, but more of a celebration of her best work,” he said. “The main goal in these types of shows is to preserve the legacy of one-of-a-kind musicians and using their actual master recordings, give fans the chance to see them perform — many for the first time.”
Whitney’s former manager and President of her estate Pat Houston said in a statement that “Whitney is not with us, but her music will live with us forever. We know we made the right decision partnering with BASE because they understand how important it is to produce a phenomenal hologram. They also know that engaging her fans with an authentic Whitney experience would resonate worldwide because of the iconic status that she created over three decades. Her fans deserve nothing less because she gave nothing less than her best.”
Whether the tour will be a success or not has yet to be seen, but it certainly paves the way for more performers in the future.
Zoe Kravitz Set To Star As Catwoman in The Batman
One of the stars of Big Little Lies, Zoe Kravitz, has signed on to play Catwoman in the upcoming The Batman film alongside Robert Pattinson. At this point it’s not known if she will play the main antagonist, or if she will be the love interest of Batman. In the comics, and the films, Catwoman has played both roles.
Rumour has it that over the last few weeks the role has come down to Joker’s Zazie Beetz, Eiza Gonzalez of Baby Driver, Oscar winner Alicia Vikander and Kravitz. Kravitz managed to snag the roll, even though there is a little concern with her scheduling since she is due to start filming the next installment of Fantastic Beasts soon.
Filming for The Batman is expected to start sometime soon, either this fall or early in 2020, so the movie will be ready for it’s June 25, 2021 release date.
As much as fans are excited for the new Batman film, Aquaman star Jason Mamoa is even more so. He is of course the stepfather of Kravitz, and shortly after the news broke he took to social media to let everyone know how proud he is of her.
“I’m so proud of u zozo bear. On and off screen OHANA,” he wrote on Instagram. “DC WB ohana Lola and Wolfies big sister is CAT WOMAN. Unbelievable so freaking stoked. Your going to have so much fun Aloha P bear.”
Kravitz responded to the post, saying “LOVE YOU PAPABEAR! love that aquaman and catwomen spend the holidays together from now on.”
Unfortunately odds of a crossover between the two characters is slim. Even though they are both DC comics properties, The Batman film is said to be separate the most current DC Films.
Drew Barrymore To Host A Daytime Talk Show
Back in August Drew Barrymore shot a pilot for a daytime television talk show, but none of the major networks were biting to pick it up. That all changed yesterday though when CBS Television Distribution made it official, they would air and produce Barrymore’s show starting in Fall 2020.
In a released statement Barrymore said “It is beyond my wildest dreams to have this opportunity for a daily talk show. I’m truly thrilled and honored to be creating this show with CBS.”
Barrymore of course was introduced at a very young age when she was one of the stars of E.T., and since then she has gone on to star in such films as The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, Never Been Kissed, Ever After and more. She also has some television credits to her name as well, including the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet, Family Guy, and The World’s Best talent competition on which she served as a judge.
Steve LoCascio, chief operating and financial officer of CBS Global Distribution Group, said in a statement that “Drew is a huge star and a breath of fresh air — her show will energize any station’s lineup.”
At this point very little else is known about the new show, including what format it will take, but it was announced that Barrymore will also be an executive-producer for it.

Gwen Stefani To Be Replaced By Nick Jonas On The Voice
When Gwen Stefani decided to return to The Voice for Season 17 after Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine announced his departure, fans were excited. Their excitement didn’t last long however, as NBC announced late Monday night that the singer would be departing once again at the end of the current season. They also quickly announced her replacement though, Nick Jonas. Jonas will be joining the returning coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend, all of whom took to social media to congratulate him.
“As a member of one of the hottest pop groups, Nick’s success in navigating all aspects of the music industry is exceptional,” Meredith Ahr, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment, said in a statement. “We were so impressed by his innate musicality, technical aptitude and passion that he brought to Songland earlier this year and know he will be an incredible fit as a coach on ‘The Voice.’ We are excited to see Nick lend his mentorship, relatability and breadth of knowledge to a new crop of artists.”
Jonas also added a statement of his own, saying “I’m so excited to be a part of The Voice family. It’s such an awesome group of individuals, and I can’t wait to help these artists really build and hone in to find their unique voices.”
Jonas will be taking the red chair over for the 18th season in 2020. The 27 year old has quite the year, from being a part of Songland, to marrying Priyanka Chopra, reuniting with his brothers and now a coach on The Voice, his career continues to push him forward. The Jonas Brothers also have a memoir coming out next month.
