His collaborations with director Quentin Tarantino in the films Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Django Unchained, and The Hateful Eight have made him a household name. Jackson has appeared in over 100 films to date, including the Star Wars prequel trilogy as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But while it is hard to imagine Hollywood without Samuel L. Jackson, he’d only landed small parts before landing the award-winning role in Spike Lee’s film Jungle Fever. Jackson was at the ripe age of 43 when he became famous and successful.

It was soon followed by Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Volume Two, and her fourth book, From Julia Child’s Kitchen, was illustrated with her husband’s photographs.
Julia Child wasn’t always a world renowned chef. She worked in advertising and media before writing her first cookbook when she was 50. It is that cookbook that launched her career as a celebrity chef in 1961.

Vera Ellen Wang is now one of the most prominent fashion designers today but that was not always the case. When she graduated from The Chapin School in 1967, she then attended the University of Paris and earned a degree in art history from Sarah Lawrence College. Wang actually pursued figure skating but failed to make the US Olympics team so she decided to enter the fashion industry.
Vera Wang entered the fashion industry as a bridal wear designer at age 40 but first, she was hired to be an editor at Vogue after graduating from Sarah Lawrence. She was the youngest editor at that magazine and was at Vogue for 17 years to join Ralph Lauren, who she worked for 2 years. Donald George Fisher was an American businessman and philanthropist who co-founded The Gap clothing stores with his wife Doris F. Fisher. In the 1960s, Fisher started leasing some retail space to Levi Strauss & Co. which opened a showroom. Fisher’s start in retail began after a frustrating experience trying to return a pair of Levi’s jeans that did not fit. He noticed that most department stores only carried a limited selection of Levi’s jeans and those circumstances were not accommodating. Fisher and his wife opened their first store named the Gap after the “Generation Gap.”
When Donald Fisher and his wife opened The Gap, he was 40 and had no experience in retail. The first Gap store opened in San Francisco in 1969 and the Gap’s clothes quickly became fashionable. Today, the company is one of the world’s largest clothing chains.
John “Jack” Higson Cover, Jr. formed Taser Systems, Inc. in 1970. He was the inventor of the Taser stun gun. Due to the Taser using gunpowder to launch the darts, the federal government considered it a firearm. Because of this type of classification, it was ruled out of the civilian market and also discouraged police and military sales.
If you have ever wanted a career change but think there is no time for you, just look at Jack Cover. Before inventing the Taser gun, Jack Cover worked as a scientist for institutions including NASA and IBM. His incredibly successful invention launched his successful entrepreneur career at the age of 50.
Charles Robert Darwin was a pioneer of science. He was an English naturalist and geologist, best known for his contributions to the science of evolution. He established that all species of life have descended from common ancestors. His scientific theory of this branching pattern of evolution resulted from a process that he called natural selection and selective breeding.
Darwin is one of the (or the most) influential figures in human history. Darwin spent most of his life as a naturalist who kept to himself. But in 1859, at the age 50, his On the Origin of Species changed the scientific community forever. He had to overcome scientific rejection but by the 1870s, the scientific community and much of the general public had accepted evolution as a fact. Darwin’s scientific discovery is the theory that explains the diversity of life.

Laura Ingalls Wilder was an American writer. She is known for the Little House on the Prairie series. It was a series of children’s books released from 1932 to 1943; the books were so compelling because they were based on her childhood in a settler and pioneer family.
These books have become a staple of many young girls’ childhoods and during the 1970s and early 1980s, the television series Little House on the Prairie was loosely based on the Little House books. Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote these semi-autobiographical stories in her later years; she published the first in the Little House books at the age of 65 in 1932.

Blume learned the ins and outs of the industry while working for someone else and struck out on his own with the belief that he could do it better. The Des Plaines location boomed. It brought in hundreds of dollars on its opening day. Kroc franchised out scores of restaurants to franchisees and it became a family affair; they were satisfied with the money they had and did not feel a need to expand their empire, but Kroc had other plans. Before McDonald’s, Kroc spent his career as a milkshake-device salesman, which connects to the McDonald’s needs. He bought into McDonald’s at age 52 in 1954.

Tim and Nina Zagat
Would you believe that Tim and Nina Zagat started their company as a hobby? Well, they did. In 1979, Nina and Tim Zagat were at a dinner party with friends when one of the dinner guests started complaining about the restaurant reviews of a major newspaper. They all discussed how the paper’s reviews were unreliable and Tim suggested taking a survey of their friends; this idea led to 200 amateur critics rating and reviewing 100 top restaurants for food, décor, service, and cost.
Tim and Nina Zagat were both 51-year-old lawyers when they published their first collection of reviews in 1979. Zagat is the original provider of user-generated content and it eventually became a mark of culinary authority.
When you attend college, there is one staple item that everyone can relate to. Here’s a hint: it is warm, delicious and fills your belly at a bargain price. If you guessed ramen noodles, or even cup of noodles, you are correct! Momofuku Ando was a Japanese inventor and businessman who gave the world the gift of instant ramen noodles.
He founded Nissin Food Products Co. which is known as one of the inventors of instant noodles, instant ramen, and Cup Noodles. Ando didn’t create this delicious college staple when he was in college; he cemented his spot in junk-food history when he invented instant noodles at age 48 in 1958.
If you don’t know who Henry Ford is, you might just be living under a rock. He was an American industrialist who founded the Ford Motor Company. He is responsible for the development of the assembly line technique of mass production.
Ford didn’t invent the automobile nor the assembly line, but he is known for developing and manufacturing the first automobile that many middle-class Americans could afford. In 1908, Ford was 45 years old when he created the revolutionary Model T car, which revolutionized transportation and American industry. Henry Ford became one of the richest and best-known people in the world.
Samuel Moore “Sam” Walton is known as an entrepreneur who founded the retailers Walmart and Sam’s Club. The first Wal-Mart opened in 1962, in Rogers, Arkansas and it was called the Wal-Mart Discount City store. His determined effort to market American-made products included the effort to find American manufacturers who could supply merchandise for the entire Wal-Mart chain at a price low enough to meet the foreign competition (which American’s know isn’t an easy feat!).
Sam Walton didn’t launch Wal-Mart stores until later in life. He had a fairly successful retail-management career in his 20s and 30s, but his path to astronomical success began at age 44. He realized the secret to success was buying in volume and efficient delivery permitted the sale of discounted name brand merchandise. Thus, sustained growth was achieved.
And (for all of the comic book fans) we have Stan Lee. Lee is an American comic-book writer, editor, publisher, media producer, television host, actor, and former president and chairman of Marvel Comics (whew, what a busy guy!). In collaboration with several artists, he created fan favorites like Spider-Man, the Hulk, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Daredevil, Thor, the X-Men, and many other fictional characters. Lee subsequently led the expansion of Marvel Comics.
But all of this success didn’t happen early in life, or overnight. Lee created his first hit comic, The Fantastic Four, in 1961. This happened right before his 39th birthday. Later, he created the legendary Marvel Universe, whose characters became American cultural icons.
For 24 Hours, Kelly Clarkson Was Scared For Her Life
If you know how petrifying cancer can be then this will hit close to home. Going to the doctor for a routine checkup isn’t that high on everyone’s list of things they love. Why? Because you may think you are perfectly fine but there is something in the back of your head that keeps you the slightest paranoid. For Kelly Clarkson, that paranoia turned into a reality in 2006.
It was the day of the 2006 Grammys and Kelly Clarkson had the heaviest mind in attendance. “Not many people know this … but I was told that morning that I had cancerous results for something,” she said. “I went the whole day crying. They redid my makeup four times because I was like, ‘Wow, so young.’ I was just completely freaking out.”
No one wants to be trembling with fear on one of the biggest days of their lives. Not only was Clarkson nominated, she was set to perform. That must have a nightmarish feeling, to say the least. Hope came in the form of her winning her first two Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
“Then when I won, I thought, ‘Oh, my God. This is like God giving me one more thing before something horrible happens,’” said Clarkson. From the sounds of things, Clarkson was going through it but the light at the end of the tunnel arrived the next day
What happened next is something that all cancer patients would wish could happen. The day after she won her Grammys and performed her hit song “Because of You” she had learned the diagnosis was just a mistake.
“I was like, ‘You completely ruined my entire [day],’” she laughed. “As a kid watching the Grammys, that was a big dream! It was kind of the worst/greatest day. And the next day was also the worst/greatest day because I wanted to punch someone.” And rightfully so, giving someone the scare of their life on a big day like that is quite ridiculous.
“I was like, ‘Who mixes up results? Why wouldn’t you test again?’ It was very much a roller coaster ride, that day, for me,” said Clarkson. “So, it’s kind of unfortunate, but a lot of the moments got stolen from that mishap. But hey, I didn’t have cancer!”
That is most likely one of the craziest 24 hours a human being can go through. Thinking that you have a life-threatening disease and winning an award you have been dreaming about since you were a kid has bittersweet written all over it.
It takes a certain level of professionalism for someone to stay committed after hearing that news but that is just what Clarkson did accepting her awards and giving a great performance. One can only guess how thankful for life Clarkson has been since that scare. And to those still fighting that battle and were not as fortunate as Clarkson, continue the fight because it can be defeated.
Celebs Who Saved Themselves For Marriage (Or Not)
People decide to “save” themselves, in other words remain “pure,” for lots of reasons. Some do it because of religious, emotional, or just personal reasons. Some do it because they want to protect their health, while others just do it because they want to find the “right” person. It really makes you wonder, though, when a super-attractive star says that they’ve vowed to remain celibate or abstinent. So many questions surround their decision, and then there’s always the inevitable musing… Is their desire to “wait” honest-and-real, or is it just a publicity stunt? Here are all the details about some of the biggest stars who said they were saving themselves.
Angela Simmons Confesses
Angela Simmons is famous as theGrowing Up Hip-Hopstar and a fabulous shoe designer. Her dad is also Run-DMC rap royalty the Rev. Joseph Simmons, which may also explain why she was so vocal about her desire to wait until marriage.
So, when rumors of her pregnancy first surfaced, she denied it of course. There’s only so long that denials will hold up, though. She eventually confessed, saying, “You know, I met the love of my life and we got engaged. And I waited until twenty-eight.” So, the man of her dreams changed everything, and she welcomed Sutton Joseph, her baby boy, last year, and then married Sutton Tennyson.
Carrie Underwood on the Right To Love
Even after her American Idol win, and her subsequent steady-and-sure rise to even bigger stardom, Carrie Underwood had a lot to say about her decision to wait until marriage, and she held fast to her convictions. She says, “I grew up going to church camp and reading my Bible and having different faith books and movies in my life.”
She was abstinent until she married her husband, Mike Fisher, when she was 26-years old. It’s a good thing that she finally found “the right guy.” But, she’s also very vocal about her belief that everyone should have that right: “As a married person myself, I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.”
Donny Osmond – Dad’s Dilemma
Donny Osmond was part of the Osmonds, and he went on to have a bestselling singing career. All-in-all, though, he’s a man of many talents; he’s a singer, songwriter, actor, TV host, dancer, and even author. What draws him to your attention here, though, is his vow to wait until he married.
He says, “I was … when I got married and I would hope that my children, based on my beliefs and what I have taught them, would follow suit.” That appears to be easier to say than to actually ensure that they follow in his footsteps, though. He says, “I am not going to condemn anybody. That’s where religion gets a bad name, when people get holier than thou. We are all human. If my children make a mistake, I want them to know it is all right and they should try harder next time.”
Jordin Sparks & Perfect Sense
Jordin Sparks is famous as an actor, singer and model. You may remember when she auditioned for American Idol, or even when she became the youngest winner (at 17). Along with all the fame, though, she’s also been very vocal about her purity ring, which is a faith-based decision.
If you look at her American Idol biography, you’ll see that she thanks her parents and God for her win. And, about her choice to wait, she explains, “My parents gave me a purity ring and talked to me about waiting until marriage. It wasn’t forced; it just made perfect sense.”
Julianne Hough & Her Lucky Guy
Julianne Hough is one of the infamous beauties of Dancing With The Stars fame, but she’s also now known for her vow of celibacy, based on her Mormon upbringing. As she explained, there was “no drinking, no caffeine, no smoking, no swear words, no R-rated movies.” There were rumors that her relationship with Zach Wilson might have been short-lived because of that little purity clause. Then, with Ryan Seacrest, rumors had it that she was his “beard.”
But, you probably don’t care about all that anymore. After all, she’s been dating NHL star Brooks Laich since 2013, and they announced their engagement in 2015. And, in an interview, he famously raved about her, saying, “She’s a cool, cool gal. She’s just a sweetheart, very loving, very giving. She puts so much great out into the world. I’m a pretty lucky guy.”
Kathie Lee Gifford – The Last One?
You probably know Kathie Lee Gifford as a host on the Today show, right? Well, she’s famous not only for her online prowess, but also because she waited until she was 22, and married to her first husband, Paul Johnson. In her autobiography, she explains: “My lifelong self-consciousness about my body seemed, miraculously, to fade away…”
Gifford said that she met her first husband at a Bible study group. He was the leader of the group. Up until, then, she was certain that she was the last hold out in Hollywood. Her marriage to her first husband lasted six years. She later married Frank Gifford in 1986, but they divorced in 2015.
Kevin Jonas & His Purity Ring
Kevin Jonas was part of the infamous Jonas brothers, and all of them quickly became popular with fans. Kevin is the oldest of the brother, and they all wore their very own “purity ring” to demonstrate their commitment to chastity. Of the three, it appears that Kevin is probably the only one who kept that vow (Joe admitted that the promise was broken).
Kevin was undeterred. At 18, he said, “My ring represents a promise to myself and God that I’ll stay pure until marriage.” He married Danielle Deleasa in 2009, and the couple now has two children.
Jessica Simpson’s Something Special
Jessica Simpson is another famous celebrity who proclaimed that she was waiting until marriage. She was raised a Baptist, but said, “Abstinence for me is about romance. It has nothing to do with my relationship with God. It’s definitely a bonus in that department, but it’s nothing spiritual. It’s about giving something special to that person you’re going to spend the rest of your life with.”
So, she waited until she married Nick Lachey in 2001 when she was 22-years old, but their marriage only lasted until 2005. She did say that that act of waiting until marriage made her most proud. She went on to have two children out of wedlock with Eric Johnson.
Kirk Cameron – Lock The Door
You probably remember him as Mike Severson on Growing Pains, but he’s gone on to appear in the Left Behind series as well as Fireproof. He also partnered with Ray Comfort for an Evangelical ministry, The Way of the Master. His decision to be celibate until marriage is also tied to his Evangelical faith.
He famously says, “I’m glad I waited.” He met his wife, Chelsea, while he was still on the set of Growing Pains, and they’ve been together ever since. Kinda mushy, but he says: “Love is a promise. It’s a room you go into where you learn how to serve someone else. And you don’t leave that room. You lock the door and throw away the key.”
Lenny Kravitz – Promise Made?
Yeah, you probably know that Lenny Kravitz has done a little bit of everything. He’s an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and an actor. And, he’s also incorporated elements of many musical genres into his own unique style. He also won the Grammy Award for “Best Male Rock Vocal Performance” over four consecutive years. So, yeah, you know him…
He explains that while he thinks that it’s important to be close, “It’s just that I’m going to do it with my wife. And not everybody else.” So, while he told Maxim: “(It’s) a promise I made until I get married.” He later told Details: “I said it, and it just got blown way out of proportion.”
Lisa Kudrow – Precious Honor
You probably know (and love) Lisa Kudrow from the role she played as Phoebe on Friends. But, reports say that she’s really nothing like the hippie she played on the show, and she has also been vocal about her decision to wait until marriage. She explained that it was “something I’d decided was very precious…an honor I was bestowing on a young man.”
But, did she really wait until she was 31, when she married Michael Stern? Some have taken an interview with Jay Leno to mean that she may not have been completely celibate. The quote that they point to is this one: “No, no. What I was trying to say is that when I was young I had always had hoped and wanted to be…” What do you think?
Lolo Jones – It’s Harder Than Olympics Training
Lolo Jones is American hurdler and bobsledder who specializes in the 60-meter and 100-meter hurdles. She was an Olympic athlete but fell short of winning any medals. About her choice of waiting until marriage, she said, “It’s just something, a gift I want to give my husband.”
But, she also said that it’s “harder than training for the Olympics.” She is also very comfortable with her body. She posed semi-nude for ESPN the Magazine’s “The Body” issue in 2009. Jones was also on the cover of Outside magazine in 2012. The “bathing suit” she wore was made up of ribbon that had been strategically placed.
Mariah Carey Waited for Nick Cannon
Mariah Carey is a huge pop star, of course. She’s the obvious best-selling female singer from the ’90s. In her credits, though, you’ll find mention of a whole lot more. Beyond singing, she’s a songwriter, record producer, and even an actress. She’s quite a lady!
Yes, she’d been married before to Tommy Mottola, in 1993 (and divorced in 1998), but she still vowed to remain celibate with Nick Cannon until they got married. Maybe it’s not such a surprise, then, that they got hitched just two months after they started dating. She explained, “It’s not that we had no intimacy. We just didn’t have complete intimacy. It’s just me, and my feelings. But we both have similar beliefs and I just thought that it would be so much more special if we waited until we were married. And it was.” While they might have had some good moments, the couple divorced in 2016.
Meagan Good About “The Wait”
Actress Meagan Good is married to DeVon Franklin, a Seventh Day Adventist minister. She was vocal about her vow of celibacy before marriage, and they’ve even released the New York Times bestselling book, The Wait. They talk about their journey with abstinence. Since so many others lament how hard it is, the book also offers advice to those who are struggling.
In the book, they explain their reasoning: “We live in a culture addicted to the quick hookup, the miracle cure, and the overnight sensation. The Wait is the remedy for that addiction.” But, waiting until marriage also supports the fact that it’s not always easy to find that person who will love you the way you deserve. It’s about being (and becoming) “self-aware and humble enough to admit that our first impulses aren’t always smart ones.”
Rebecca St. James on Making Memories
For Rebecca St. James, it really makes all the career sense in the world for her to remain celibate. She has written books about her desire to wait until marriage, but she also sings hit songs about it! She is a Grammy Award-winning Christian recording artist, after all.
She felt compelled to defend her position on Fox News. She said: “Can I just say that [it] – and I’ve never been with anyone else – is so cherishing and beautiful, and I’m glad I don’t have memories with anyone else, and I’m glad my husband doesn’t have anyone to compare me to.” She married Jacob “Cubbie” Fink in 2011, and she gave birth to her daughter, Gemma Elena Fink, in 2014.
Sarah Drew on Falling in Love Via Letters
You may know Sarah Drew for her role on Grey’s Anatomy. She married her college sweetheart, Peter Lanfer, in 2002. He’s a lecturer at UCLA. She was once asked if their relationship was “love at first sight,” to which she replied: “For him it was. For me, we were leading a camp together and I was very focused on the kids. I had been burned twice by guys, so I was wounded and not interested in guys at all. He pursued me with handwritten letters for like eight months. It was incredibly romantic and old fashioned. I fell in love with him through the letters.”
The couple also waited until marriage. A fan famously asked her about how she compared to the character of Dr. April Kepner. Specifically, the person asked: “Are you as religious as April. How old were u when you first lost [it] lol?” The actress replied, “I waited until marriage.” Beyond being married since 2002, the star-crossed couple now has two children. Micah Emmanuel was born in 2012, and Hannah Mali Rose was born in 2014.
Sean Lowe & Catherine Giudici
You know him as the Bachelor hunk on Season 13, but did you know that he and his chosen fiancee, Catherine Giudici, decided to wait until their honeymoon? That’s kind of a big deal when everything comes out via reality TV and the tabloids.
Giudici told The View, “We made a really good decision for us and we’re excited to consummate as husband and wife.” She was busy talking about that big wedding in 2014. She also said, “It’s something that is a benefit of being married.” And, of course, they also posted newborn baby pictures of Samuel Thomas last year. The proud mom posted, “I think I’m in love :)”
Sherri Shepherd on Sticking to Values
Sherri Shepherd is a TV host and actress. She famously jumped in to defend Olympian Lola Jones against critics that found fault with her desire to wait until marriage, saying: “I think it’s great that she’s sticking to her values.” She further said, “Nobody applauds anybody sticking to their values, but when they mess up, they go ‘Where’s your values?’”
In 2012, 29-year-old Shepherd also made headlines from comments she made in an interview with HBO Real Sports, when she said that she’d been saving herself for marriage. In her relationship with her second husband, she said she also waited until her wedding night.
You may know him for his Twilight role, but Taylor Lautner seems to capture everyone’s attention as a huge heartthrob both on and off the Big Screen. He took the abstinence vow back in 2009, and nobody’s been able to prove (or report) any deviation from that promise. You’d be sure to see it blitzed across every possible tabloid, that’s for sure.
Of course, he also didn’t say he was waiting until marriage, just that he was waiting for the “right girl.” Of course, rumors have it that his vow may be part of why his relationships just don’t last. Is he calling it quits and moving on when he determines they’re just not “all that” or are they breaking it off when he won’t break his abstinence vow? Then again, he also famously lamented: “Oh, it’s soo hard being famous! I can’t date anybody because everybody just wants my hot body and my Twilight millions!” Not the most modest, but he does say he hopes he’s romantic, and that it’s “more than the flowers and the gifts.” He says, “It’s about connecting with the person and being able to talk and share things with her.”
Tim Tebow is a famous NFL player, but he made huge headlines when he announced that he’d vowed to remain celibate until marriage. Of course, there have also been lots of rumors about whether it’s that decision to wait also ruined his relationship with Olivia Culpo.
For his part, he seemed like he was stuck on her. During the brief relationship, sources said, “It’s very new, but he thinks she is a goddess. He’s very attentive, and writes her sweet notes all the time.” While some surmised it was his decision to “wait,” others claim that Culpo just wasn’t that into him, and/or that she was still recovering from her breakup with Nick Jonas. Sometimes the timing is just way off. Then again, there may be lots of women hoping and really trying to get him into bed, since one dating website offered $1 million to any woman who could offer proof that she’d slept with Tebow.

Unfortunately, there are moments when the concert does not go as planned. Some concerts are wildly interrupted by unexpected events and it throws off the whole rhythm of the event. Here is a slew of the craziest reasons why concerts were interrupted.
First of all, he is performing on a floating stage. The concert should have been interrupted for safety measures but Kanye will be Kanye. This particular interruption ended up ended the concert after only 30 minutes.
Kanye went on a rant about Trump, Jay Z, Bey, and much more before eventually ending the show and leaving fans upset. “Get ready to have a field day, press. Get ready, get ready. Because the show’s over,” were a few of his last words before he left.
At one of his concerts, “Sure Thing” singer Miguel was sued for his Hulk Hogan style dropkick that he performed on a fan. While performing at the Billboard awards in 2013, Miguel decided to unleash his inner Power Ranger and leap across a small crowd of fans. He must have misjudged how tight his pants were mid-jump and it ended up hurting a fan.
He landed on the fan’s neck and immediately after the show he was interviewed with the fan. “We just met,” Miguel joked. “Unfortunately we did not meet under the best circumstances, but I think we’re okay.” Her name is Tsai and she sued him for negligence and sought damages to cover medical fees.
The Stones Spark Trouble
The year was 1969 and the Rolling Stones had just completed a successful American tour. To celebrate, they were the headliners of a free festival at Altamont. Things seemed legit but there was something questionable in place and that was when they chose to hire members of a notorious biker gang as their security.
Chaos eventually broke loose when fighting in the crowd began. Fighting already sounds bad enough but it got worse. Someone was killed after a serious bout broke loose with a member of the biker club. At least we know that if you use them as security, you are well protected.
Kid Cudi’s Knuckle Sandwich
Kid Cudi has one of the most loyal fan bases. Even when he puts out experimental music that is nothing like the style he blew up on, the true fans will support him. In 2009, Cudi went toe-to-toe with one of these fans all because of a simple misunderstanding.
While performing one of his classic songs “Pursuit of Happiness,” a wallet was thrown on stage and Cudi responded. He went to pick the wallet up and throw it back but the person he threw it to said it was not his so he threw back. Cudi didn’t like that and went into the crowd and socked the guy in the face.
Metallica and Guns ‘N’ Roses
It was 1992 and a bunch of things went wrong over in Montreal. Metallica was co-headlining a concert with Guns ‘N’ Roses and their half of the fiasco may be just as bad if not worse than the other incident. James Hetfield was burned horribly by the pyrotechnics so they had to cut their half of the show short.
Then it got worse when Axl Rose made the crowd upset by showing up late and leaving early because of “vocal issues.” 50 thousand people started to riot. They smashed windows and set fires causing the police to go after rioters in the streets.
Limp Bizkit Eggs on 1999 Woodstock
Woodstock ’99 was a disaster. Just so you believe us, the temperature was scorching, the lines were long just to buy an expensive bottle of water, and the planning for the event could have gone a lot better because chaos was afoot that year.
It was supposed to be a concert that promoted peace and love as well as a free-spirited kindness but the opposite was in effect especially when Limp Bizkit got on stage to perform. Vandalism and destruction were going on and the leader of the group, Fred Durst, was just egging the crowd on like it was the thing to do.
Pearl Jam Tragedy
In 2000, something happened that no band would want to happen. As a matter of fact, no one should want this fate to happen to anyone especially while they are out trying to enjoy the music they love. At the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, nine people were left killed.
When fans went to rush the stage to see Pearl Jam perform, that is how many of them got their lives taken. The moment Pearl Jam heard of this tragedy they stopped the show. Being the good people that they are, they stayed in touch with the families and reference them in the song “Love Boat Captain.”
Justin Bieber Storms Off
Most are aware of Justin Bieber’s past mishaps and public interactions. He once spit on the people below him from his balcony and we do not know why. In a concert, however, he took it to Kanye level and ended it himself because of the fans.
“He went to dry up the water with a towel when fans tried to take the towel from Bieber,” the eyewitness continues. “He became angry and walked off the stage.” Bieber later said he was sorry on Instagram with, “sadly it’s been a rough week for me, long days no sleep, while having to be ‘on’ as they would say for cameras fans etc. In no way did I mean to come across mean.”
Lady Gaga Gets Crashed
Lady Gaga is known for having her own crazy antics like wearing an all-meat costume as a form of making a statement. Not fake meat but real meat was her choice of clothing for the event. This time, a fan flipped the script and went crazy on her for once.
While performing one of her many smash records, a fan found her way on stage as the background dancers are not breaking form and Gaga starts to back away. The fan seems to be pleading to Gaga as she inched closer to her before eventually being carried off stage.
Drake Tears His ACL
In the early stage of the Canadian superstar’s career, he hit a major bump in the road. It happened around the time his hot single “Best I Ever Had” was making its course on the radio and everybody had got tired of it after just two weeks.
This was also during the era when some rappers were still wearing baggy jeans and Drake just so happened to have a pair on. While performing the aforementioned song he started to trot around and out of nowhere he slipped and landed flat on the ground. You could see him pound the ground in disappointment and pain right before people came to help him backstage.
The Fire in Rhode Island
In 2003, pyrotechnics got the best of a band once again but this time in an even more deadly manner. The band Great White was performing and suddenly the pyrotechnics lit the soundproof insulation and that is when mayhem broke loose. 100 people died during the incident including someone you would least expect.
The guitarist of the band was also killed in the fire and another 200 plus suffered burns and other injuries. The tour manager was sentenced to ten years in prison for involuntary manslaughter but got off on parole in 2008. This hit hard for the band, especially for Jack Russell.
Here we have another case of a deranged fan, and this might be the craziest one can get. In 2004, Damageplan was performing in Columbus, Ohio when something unpredictable happened. Something that should put incentives in place so that no one can carry weapons at a concert. The fan climbed on stage and what happened next was horrible.
Once on stage, the fan by the name of Nathan Gale took out his 9mm and put multiple bullets in the head of Dimebag Darrell. An additional three others were killed as well before the murderer was brought down. Eventually, those involved summed up the courage to rock another day.
German Love Parade Festival
The German Love Parade is the German version of EDM. What happened here is a prime example of what you get when you try to cram too many people in a small space. It just doesn’t work! And as a result, the festival was canceled after 2010.
The area in which the festival was taking place only could hold roughly 250,000 people. The total number of fans that showed up came out to more than one million. 500 people were injured and 21 passed away due to the lack of space. This was a lesson to be learned in event planning.
The Collapse at the Indiana State Fair
Sugarland was set to go on stage and perform next at the Indiana State Fair in 2011. That is until the weather had a change of plans for the fair and put tons of people’s lives in danger. Seven deaths even occurred because of the collapse of the stage that took place.
It was said to have collapsed due to the weather and Sugarland was said to be “stunned and heartbroken” by what happened and had no words to talk about what happened. After that tragic event, state fairs have now taken more precaution and finding better ways to combat the weather.
Big Sean Says, “Stop Throwing Money”
While Big Sean was promoting his number one album I Decided he did a show performing some of the songs off the album while in Las Vegas. The “Bounce Back” rapper was at Drai’s Nightclub and a certain fan thought it would appropriate to turn it into a different type of club.
The fan was throwing money at the stage and Big Sean was not a fan of that. “Hey, stop throwing [expletive] money my [expletive],” Sean yelled. The crowd was in shock because everyone sees Big Sean as a mild-mannered person. Throwing money while he performs is what ticks him off, it seems.
Snoop and Wiz Are clueless
Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa are two of the biggest green advocates in the music business. The two of them have made plenty of songs together and even have graced the stage together on tour. One performance, a rail was not very secure and happened to fall over leaving a handful of people falling on their faces.
Fans were packed tight to see the duo perform and leaning heavy on the rail that kept that safe. While Snoop and Wiz turned around for a split second, the railing fell and the two didn’t even notice. Security came on stage to get the stars backstage.
Demi Gets Ambushed
No one can get enough of their favorite artist, that goes without saying. Demi Lovato learned that first hand if she didn’t already know. In 2012, she decided to get fancy and let some fans go over the barrier so that they could get closer to her while she was talking to the audience.
“You guys got to be safe, though,” said Lovato. Maybe she should have been more concerned about her own safety before letting them get so close. First, one girl hopped on stage and to hug her and shortly after about three more fans rushed in before Lovato was rushed off the stage.
Drake makes the list again but this time he didn’t injure himself. This also happened early in his career and it foreshadowed how big he was going to be. Only a few artists have the ability to do what Drake did to this poor girl.
It appeared this young lady was elevated in the crowd due to her being on someone’s back and Drake came up to her and sang directly to her. He grabbed her hand while serenading her and the girl was going crazy. When he backed away and went to the center stage, moments later she straight up passed out. The show was paused as Drake spoke to the audience.
Miley Gets Rushed Off Stage
This is similar to Demi Lovato’s situation except Miley Cyrus didn’t entice the fans by saying they could come closer to her. While she was on her Gypsy Heart Tour in 2011, before she became the wrecking ball that she is now, a fan got bold and rushed the stage.
It was almost like a sneak attack because the fan crept up from behind like a ninja and tried to give Miley a big hug. In a matter of seconds, security came and apprehended the young lady and then rushed the star off of the stage. The girl could have just wanted a hug.
The Queen Got Pulled
It is no secret that Beyoncé is one of the biggest stars of this era. When she performs, her shows are always sold out. She brings thousands of fans to her shows wherever she goes. That includes Brazil where she was dragged off the stage by a fan in the crowd.
Beyoncé likes to get interactive with the fans when she performs sometimes and there is nothing wrong with that. However, we are thinking maybe she should up the security when she does interact with her adoring fanbase. While performing “Irreplaceable” she got down on her knees by the edge of the stage and a man with his shirt off pulled her down. When the guards try to escort him out, Beyoncé said to let him stay and had a dialogue with him in front of everybody.
