It’s A Wrap, The Big Bang Theory Shoots Final Episode

After 279 episodes and 12 years, The Big Bang Theory is coming to an end on May 16th. The cast and crew got together for the final tapings yesterday, and as expected it was an emotional event.

The two-part final episode was taped in two different locations. The first was performed live, like usual, in front of a studio audience. In between takes Kaley Cucoco took time to enjoy time with the audience, and Johnny Galecki even took time to goof around on stage playing air guitar and laughing. Galecki did address the crowd before the final scene was shot however, saying it was “a dream come true for all of us.” Shedding tears as he spoke, Galecki continued with “You’ve been the best fans for 12 years. You are a part of a family, and we love you very much.” Cucoco added ‘The Big Bang Theory will live on in our hearts forever. It’s so sweet and simple, and it’s so true.”

The cast then moved on to a sound stage at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank to film the final episode. This of course will help prevent leaks from happening as to how everything ends up. It also could mean that the final episode doesn’t take place in the usual locations. We’ll just have to wait until May 16th to find out.

Robert Pattinson Set To Play The Batman In Matt Reeves’ Upcoming Film

From Vampire to Bat, Robert Pattinson is said to have signed on to play The Batman in Matt Reeves’ upcoming film chronicling the Dark Knight’s early exploits.

When Ben Affleck stepped down from the role of Bruce Wayne / Batman after the Justice League movie, Warner Bros. quickly started looking for his replacement. It was said that Matt Reeves, who had been given the job of writing and directing the next solo Batman film, was looking for an actor between 25 and 33 years old. Pattinson was rumoured to be a favourite to land the role, and with his age being right on 33, he was within the range Reeves was looking for. Other actors said to be in the mix included Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Armie Hammer. The only thing that could possibly nix the deal, is if Pattinson is unwilling, or unable to sign a multi-picture deal.

Pattinson was first seen on the big screen in 2005’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire where he played the doomed character Cedric Diggory, but it wasn’t until he scored the role of Edward Cullen in 2008’s Twilight that he truly shot to fame. Over the last few years Pattinson has shied a little bit from the spotlight, taking mostly indie roles and less commercial ones, but he has signed on for the as of yet to be titled Christopher Nolan film that is set for a summer 2020 release and will start filming soon.

Reeves is set to start pre-production of The Batman this summer, with a June 25, 2021 release date. He wrote the script and will be directing it, but as of yet not much is known about it. It is expected to be the first film in a trilogy though.

Comic book fans have already started chirping online about the selection, as is to be expected. Pattinson after all is seen more of a heartthrob than a decent actor, with most only looking at him for his role in Twilight which was meant more for female audiences. There was a lot of displeasure at the casting of Heath Ledger as Joker for 2008’s The Dark Knight as well, but once they finally saw him on the big screen in the role they had a hard time picturing anyone else playing the character. Perhaps Pattinson will surprise fans the way Ledger did, or maybe he won’t, only time will tell.

Game Of Thrones Fans Petition HBO To Redo Season 8

Whether you watch HBO’s Game of Thrones or not, you have surely heard someone’s opinion of season 8 by now. Whether it is in casual conversation around your work’s water cooler, or on social media, people have been talking about it since it began five weeks ago. And while some people have really been enjoying it, seemingly a lot more people have not liked the way the story has turned out. Now a petition has begun online by an angry fan who is demanding that HBO remake the season.

Fans had to wait nearly two years for the final season of Game of Thrones to begin. While there have been fewer episodes (with the final of the 6 airing this upcoming weekend), they have on average been much longer. Ever since the season began fans have been griping. From a dark episode that was difficult to see, to characters acting, well out of character, fans have been complaining since the season began. Last week’s episode called “The Bells” pushed some of these fans over the edge however.

The petition running on Change.org has already been signed by 350,000 people, and it targets Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss specifically. The petition states the duo “have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on.” This of course is in reference to the fact that the show moved beyond George R.R. Martin’s ongoing book series in the sixth season where it hit the end of his fifth book. The petition goes on to say that it is requesting that season 8 to be remade so that fans can have “a final season that makes sense.”

Fans have been been particularly upset by the turn of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen to the dark side, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s Jamie Lannister returning to the character he was in the beginning, while ignoring the development he’s gone through over the last couple of seasons.

As fun as the petition is however, it is unlikely that HBO will listen due to the high production costs, and the fact that nothing of the kind has ever been done before. The series also continues to draw in record number of viewers, with the latest episode having been watched by 12.5 million viewers in the U.S. on its initial broadcast and by 18.4 million across all HBO platforms. The season, and series finale is expected to surpass those numbers as well.

Watch The First Trailer For Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

2014’s Maleficent was a surprise hit for Disney, bringing in over three quarters of a billion dollars worldwide while receiving decent reviews, so you just had to know a sequel would eventually be on the way. On October 18th the sequel finally arrives in theatres, and it looks like it might just be even more spectacular than the original.

In the teaser trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, you get to see Angelina Jolie’s return to the role of Disney’s iconic villain Maleficent, as well as Elle Fanning playing the role of Sleeping Beauty. The story itself picks up several years after the first film, and it looks like there will be a conflict between Maleficent and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Queen Ingrith. Ingrith of course is a new character. In the trailer Maleficent flexes her awesome powers, which include sporting a pair of large, black wings. The IMDB description of the film states that plot examines “the complex relationship of Maleficent and Aurora as they face new threats to the magical land of the Moors.”

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil also stars Harris Dickinson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple Lesley Manville and Robert Lindsay. Disney has a whole slate of live action re-imagined versions of their classic films out this year, which include the upcoming Aladdin and The Lion King, as well as Dumbo which came out earlier this year.
