Fantasy Island Movie Starring Michael Pena On The Way

One the oddest shows to come out of the 70s, Fantasy Island, is getting another reboot, this time as a feature film starring Michael Pena.

Fantasy Island ran from 1977 – 1984, and had 154 episodes. The show starred Ricardo Montalban as the mysterious Mr. Roarke, the owner of the island who would grant any wish for a price. Of course the granted wishes hardly ever turned out the way that was expected. The series made a brief return to TV in 1998 with Malcolm McDowell in the starring role, but was quickly cancelled after 13 episodes and low ratings. Now the series is getting a theatrical treatment with ant-Man star Michael Pena leading the way.

The film hasn’t been given a release date as of yet, but it will be directed by Jeff Wadlow, who directed Kick-Ass 2 and Truth or Dare. Writers Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs are currently working on the script as well. Pena’s most recent role was in Ant-Man and the Wasp, and will next be seen in Clint Eastwood’s The Mule and the upcoming fourth season of Netflix’s Narcos. He’s also currently filming a live action version of Dora the Explorer.

There are no plot details or release date at this time, but the film is at least a couple of years away.

Madonna’s Latest Tour And Album Are Not Doing So Well

It used to be that when Madonna released new music and announced a tour, the album would skyrocket to the top of the charts and the tour would sell out in a matter of minutes. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore though, and it’s something that is bothering the Material Girl.

Radaronline.com is stating that the 60-year old singer is “devastated” that her tour didn’t sell out immediately after tickets went on sale. She’d even chosen to perform in smaller venues this time around too, and even then there are still plenty of tickets available. The tour, which starts in Brooklyn, New York, at the Howard Gilman Opera House on September 12 still has hundreds of tickets on sale for the opening week. The bigger the venue gets too, the more tickets become available.

It’s not just Madonna’s tour however that isn’t garnering as much attention as usual. Her latest album, Madame X, has not only gotten mixed reviews, but none of the five released song have reached the Top 100. That could change when the album launches this Friday, but at this point pre-orders aren’t as high as expected either.

In the end, this doesn’t mean a whole lot. Madonna has had lulls in her career before, and usually she ends up reinventing herself and her sound to draw attention to herself once more. With a career that has spanned four decades, Madonna is a master at finding out what people want and how to get eyes on her. We have no doubt she will do so again soon.

Geena Davis Joins GLOW For Season 3

Oscar winning actress Geena Davis has joined the cast of the Netflix series GLOW. The 63 year old will be playing a former showgirl turned entertainment director of the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

GLOW, a fictional series that follows the story of a group of female wrestlers breaking barriers in what is predominantly a male “sport” in the 1980’s has been a huge hit for Netflix since premiering for the streaming company two years ago. At the end of the second season the girls packed their bags and headed to Las Vegas where they planned on continuing their careers. For the third season the girls are now headliners at the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino, and the girls quickly discover that Vegas is much harder than TV. The girls start struggling with their own identities, both in and out of the ring, and find themselves questioning their choices.

Davis signed on to appear in 5 of the 10 season 3 episodes. It hadn’t been announced that she had even signed onto the show until after the trailer for the new season was released yesterday.

GLOW is based on the 1980’s program of the same name, but the story is completely fiction. It follows Ruth Wilder (played by Alison Brie) who was an out of work actress in Los Angeles who stumbles upon an opportunity to make it big when she tries out for a role in a new wrestling program. Together with 12 other LA misfits they grow the business and become a hit, but not without complications.

GLOW Season 3 launches Aug. 9 on Netflix.

Lucifer Renewed By Netflix For A Fifth And Final Season

There wasn’t a lot of doubt that Lucifer would return for a fifth season, especially if the series did well enough on Netflix. After all the fourth season ended on a huge cliffhanger that left viewers clamoring for more. Netflix announced yesterday that the show would be returning for a fifth season, but they also announced that the fifth season, would also be the last.

The Tom Ellis led drama was cancelled last year on Fox, but Netflix quickly swooped in and picked up the series for a fourth season. Shortly afterwards the streaming service stated that the fourth season would consist of 10 episodes, and be launched on May 8th, 2019. When it came out earlier this year, it received decent reviews from critics and fans alike, but nothing was stated about if a fifth season would be happening or not. The cliffhanger ending made it seem like it would be, but nothing was said. That has now changed though.

“We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms,” co-showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich said in a statement. “Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!!”

While no word has been given as to how many episodes would be made, or when the season five would be airing, Netflix did release a statement of their own. They said “We’re thrilled that ‘Lucifer’ fans around the world have embraced this series on Netflix, and we can’t wait to give them the big finish they’ve all been waiting for.”

Lucifer stars Ellis in the title role, with Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, D.B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Aimee Garcia and Rachael Harris co-starring. Season 4 also introduced Real Style Magazine’s 2019 cover girl Inbar Lavi as Eve and Graham McTavish as Father Kinley.
